Coffee grounds do a lot of good for enriching the soil and keeping pests away but coffee for survival? Turns out, there are several ways to use coffee grounds that you may not have considered as possibilities!
Many of you were probably like me when you read the headline: “Using coffee grounds and filters for survival?” How does that work? So, of course, I had to check it out! I mean honestly, what good are coffee grounds for other than the garden? They do a lot of good for enriching the soil and keeping pests away but coffee for survival? Turns out, there are several ways to use coffee grounds that I never considered as possibilities!
#16 surprised me! I had never considered that coffee grounds would be good for melting ice. Once it was explained though, it made perfect sense. The oils and acidity in the coffee help to melt ice faster and can even give some traction.
Filters, of course, make sense. You can use them to filter water as a step to make it safe (filtering water with a coffee filter will not guarantee it is safe to drink but it will remove a lot of solids that may be present.). Firestarter, toilet paper…there are so many options! The best part is coffee filters are very inexpensive and are easily stored in your preps.
