If you are a free-thinking individual, the idea of “safe spaces” on a college campus is laughable. That is just not the way the world works in reality. I’ve not heard of any jobs that provide ‘safe spaces’ for employees who feelings got hurt, have you?

Maybe I am being harsh but so is reality. The world is not a happy, friendly, care-bear kind of place. Teaching your kids to survive and even get ahead in such a world requires you to let them experience the rougher aspects of life while they still have a safety net at home. Thankfully, a University has stepped up and taken on the challenge that is getting some amazing feedback from people around the globe.

They teach survival skills. Yep, you read that right. From the article:

“It is a reprocessing of your camping skills. Really, what we did is take the old-fashioned camping course and repackaged it,” Kauffman said. “The real emphasis is surviving the unexpected emergency we could be thrust into anytime, our car breaking down on the road, being stranded at a rest stop, or we just had a storm where people were stranded for three days.”
